The Uniqueness and Unexpected Connectivity Patterns of Lobophyllia corymbosa in The Sulawesi Waters as A Centre Spot of Coral Triangle Area (CT)

Abstract Summary
Sulawesi waters is one of the strategic areas for biological network of an organism especially for coral biodiversity. Based on the geographical, its located in the middle of Indonesia and influenced by the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean currrent flow and makes it biological information is unique. However, unfortunately that research in that region is still very limit. One of hard coral that have very little information on dispersion is Lobophyllia corymbosa make it interesting to examine the genetic aspect. Mitochondria become the target of DNA in obtaining the pattern of connectivity that is formed in a region. Here, we collected 30 coral fragments at each location. In this study, we have taken samples on the area as part of CT area that is in Sulawesi Waters (Palu, Mamuju, Sinjai and Luwuk Banggai). The results obtained are unexpected and we assume this as the uniqueness that is formed in this region with a complicated geography. The distance index and genetic diversity showed the pattern formed between Mamuju and Luwuk Banggai possessing close relation then Sinjai and Palu which formed its own pattern. This may happen if we look at the global current pattern, complicated geography and the habitat condition of a population. Hard coral larvae form a "stepping stone" in an area which then form a unique pattern and unusual genetic relations of an area.
